Repair Ford Focus 2023 Aibrag RJ7T14B321AB with CG100X

Here is the tip for repairing these encrypted Renesas R7F7010643 Ford airbags using CG100X programmer.

Model example:

Ford Focus 2023

Restraint control module Part number: RJ7T 14B3 21 AB
Processor: Renesas R7F7010643 encrypted

 

Step 1: Diagnose airbag module with CG70 airbag reset tool

First we read the SRS fault code with CG70 airbag reset tool or a diagnostic scanner.

Run CG70 software, go to Ford and select the corresponding part number. It will show you the wiring diagram.

Read fault code.  If you get a code B1193 Crash event storage full and locked, this means the vehicle was in an accident and it has crash data stored in the ACM/SDM airbag control module. This code will not clear and won’t erase with any diagnostic scan tool. It will give you the error “cannot execute routine”.

Step 2: Repair airbag with CG100X

The processor is encrypted, it cannot be handled with cg70, you need cg100x.

CG100X will decrypt and read data of this mcu.

Run CG100X software, select Ford and search part number. It will show you the wiring diagram.

Require the removal of 1 capacitor on the main board.
Also required to use D1 adapter, 2mm thin cable and a 5.10 resistor.

The capacitor is tiny. Be careful when desoldering the capacity.

Set up connection with CG100X.

Do not let the 5.10 resistor touch the board, as this may cause a short circuit or a lack of communication.

After setting up the connection, start to decrypt chip.

Then read chip (Dflash and Pflash) and save data.

Press Yes to repair airbag data.

Writing chip.

Erase airbag crash successfully. The srs module is repaired.

Disconnect wires with cg100x. Don't forget to solder the capacitor to the airbag main board. 

Step 3: Read fault code with cg70

Connect airbag with cg70 again. Read fault code and make sure there is no crash fault code stored.

Repair BMW SME System Management Unit by CG100X

The SME module, or System Management Unit, in a BMW is a battery management system (BMS) that controls the high-voltage battery. It monitors the battery’s charging process and health.

If the SME module is faulty, the dealership wants you to replace a new one which takes a long time and is expensive.

There are 3 BMW SME solutions so far!

1. Before resetting, make a backup with “Online ISTA”. Then reset and restore. (By pass ‘tester way’)!

2. If you don’t have an “original SME” then you need an “AOS” tester. Ista online…

3. Manually erase 4 bytes of “crash” data from the “eeprom”. Special note! This doesn’t work every time. It’s located in different places every time!

If the car is 2022 and below, it is “offline”, otherwise all “battery series” are read online.

 

Here we will show how to repair BMW SME module using CG100X  programmer.

This is the SME (System Management Unit) High-Voltage battery cell module.

Remove and disassemble the SME module.
Remove the 4 screws on the top to open shell.
Disassemble the control interface.
Remove these screws.
Lift the cover.

If the vehicle collides, these two blown fuses will short-circuit.

So we MUST replace these two blown fuses before repairing the SME module !!!

This is the BMS module we need to repair.

Disassemble the SME module.
The CPU (Infineon TC275) chip controls the battery data.

We will read and write this module with CG100X.

Run CG100X software, go to BCM function.
Select BMW- SME- I3/I4/IX3-TC175 (read/write).
CG100X will show you the wiring diagram.

Zoom in the diagram and connect module with CG100X via pro v2 adapter.

Then read the Dflash data and save.

Send your data to CG engineer or 3rd party resource to modify data.

Then select the modified data and write back to the module.

Wait until the writing chip is completed.

Then reinstall SME module and install to vehicle.

You will also need to program SME module with ISTA in order to work properly.

CG70 Airbag Reset Software Update Problem Solution

Problem:

CGDI CG70 airbag reset tool software has expired. Tried to renew subscription. It says no renewal fee is required during the promotion period.
Click OK and nothing.
How to update CG70 software to latest version?

Solution:

Go to Setting->About, hit Check and Fix.

This will update the CG70 software to the latest version.  Hit OK to run an upgrade.
